Evaluation of Vehicle Speed
After the collision and the pre and post impact
paths of the vehicles, have been located, physics and engineering
principles are used to determine the speeds of the vehicles at
and before the POI, and to show what happened immediately before
the point of initial impact.
Determination of the pre impact vehicle speeds can usually
be conducted with one or more of the following methods:
Braking/Speed from Skid marks
Centrifugal Force Analysis/Critical
Speed
Momentum Analysis
Damage/Energy Analysis
Launch, Fall or Vault Analysis
Once the vehicle speeds are established, a time distance analysis
can be conducted, and used to show the available lines of sight
of one or other of the drivers at material times. |
